Using an eight-run first inning to set the tone (and demoralize their opponents), the political science faculty walloped the graduate students 25-3. Carbon dating suggests this is the fifth straight victory for the faculty. Adam Eckerd and ringer Matt Fay paced the faculty. Eckerd hit a grand slam and a three-run homer on his way to nine RBI. Fay closed the scoring with a three-run blast to center field. Solid faculty defense held the graduate students at bay. The win brought Manager Rich “Casey” Pacelle’s career record versus the graduate students to 2-0. The trophy for the annual game, the Steinhoist, resides in McClung Tower for at least another year. Las Vegas made the faculty a prohibitive favorite for the 2017 game.
