PhD Student Jonathan Barsness Receives Critical Language Scholarship

Jonathan Barsness was recently awarded a U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to study Arabic in Madaba, Jordan (summer 2015). During this time, he also hopes to conduct preliminary fieldwork for his larger dissertation project, which examines the history and evolution of armed forces in the Middle East and North Africa. In developing his CLS application, Jonathan is grateful for the support and guidance of UT Department of Political Science faculty members Dr. Matt Buehler and Dr. Michael Fitzgerald as well as Dr. Drew Paul from the UT Department of Modern Foreign Languages & Literatures.
