PhD Student Mehdi Ayari Receives UT M.K. McClure Scholarship

Political science doctoral student Mehdi Ayari received $4,500 by way of the UT W.K. McClure Scholarship to support his proposed research project in Tunisia: “(Mis)managing Authoritarian Coalitions in Tunisia: Minister Survival from Colonial Independence to Democratic Revolution.” Mehdi will spend three months in Tunis gathering data in order to complete this project. Mehdi is grateful for the support of Dr. Matt Buehler for his support in coming up with a thoughtful research proposal and developing a solid foundation as a researcher in the Middle East comparative politics. Mehdi is also grateful for Dr. Laryssa Chomiak at CEMAT (Le Centre d’Etudes Maghrébines à Tunis)— the American Institute for Maghrib Studies (AIMS)— for offering in-country institutional affiliation while conducting his research.
