Doctoral students Jon Barsness and Harrison Atkins win fellowships for language study and research fieldwork in Jordan, Oman, and India

 

Doctoral student Jonathan Barsness has received the US Department of State Critical Language Scholarship to study Arabic in Ibri, Oman (Summer 2016) and the National Security Education Program Boren Fellowship to study Arabic and conduct research on civil-military relations in Jordan (2016-2017).

Doctoral student Harrison Akins received a 2-month Critical Language Scholarship funded by the US State Department to study Urdu in Lucknow, India during Summer 2016. This language study program will be part of his preparation for his dissertation research, focusing on terrorism in South Asia.
