Congratulations to Professor Matt Buehler who was awarded tenure and promoted to associate professor. In these promotion and tenure cases, we evaluate our colleague’s teaching, and we ask experts across the world in the field to evaluate the research of our colleague. Ten experts weighed in on Professor Buehler’s record and had nothing but the highest praise for his work and its impact.
As one expert wrote: “I strongly believe that Dr. Buehler’s application for promotion to associate professor should be accepted, as he meets, and in my opinion exceeds, the criteria the university set. In our university he would most certainly be promoted and his application is one of the most impressive I have ever had the pleasure to evaluate. It was a pleasure to be able to review such fine work and the contributions of such an excellent scholar.”
And another was similarly wowed by Professor Buehler’s research productivity: “I have long been familiar with Buehler’s work on opposition alliances in the Maghreb, as well as his significant service to and leadership of the very important journal Mediterranean politics. However, I did not appreciate the full scope of his output and the depth of his scholarship until I had this chance to read his file. In short, I find both the quality and quantity of Buehler’s publications to be breath-taking. It is humbling to see what he has accomplished since earning his doctorate and exciting to get a preview of the accomplishments that lie ahead.”
