Tracy Osborn

Tracy Osborn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Iowa.  She is a native of Little Rock, AR.  Tracy received her B.A. from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1998 and her Ph.D. from Indiana University in 2004.  Her research focuses on women and politics in U.S. state legislatures, Congress, and political behavior.  Her recent book, How Women Represent Women: Political Parties, Gender, and Representation in the State Legislatures (Oxford University Press, 2012) examines how Democratic and Republican women represent women's issues under different legislative conditions.  She has also published articles in Political Research QuarterlyAmerican Politics ResearchPolitics & Gender, and other journals.  She is currently working on a new project to explain how partisan women represent women's issues over time in the state legislatures.  Tracy also serves currently as a co-author of State and Local Politics: Institutions and Reform (4th Edition, Cengage) and an associate editor of the journal Politics & Gender.
