David Scott was born in Oklahoma City, OK and raised in Dallas, TX and Nashville, TN. David earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Lipscomb University and his Juris Doctorate and Master of Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University. David went on to earn his Ph.D. in American Politics from the University of Tennessee. David is also a licensed attorney in the state of Tennessee.
David has served as Visiting Instructor of Political Science at Tusculum College, as well as an adjunct instructor at Carson Newman University and Walters State Community College, and as a Graduate Teaching Associate at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
David’s teaching and research interests include American constitutional law, civil rights and liberties, political philosophy, and the influence of interest groups on the Supreme Court via the submission of amicus curiae briefs. He has taught the following courses: Law in American Society; Judicial Process and Policy Making; Introduction to Political Science; U.S. Government and Politics; Civil Rights & Liberties; Constitutional Interpretation; The Presidency; Political Traditions of the West; Theory & Practice of Citizenship; Ethical Decision-Making in Criminal Justice; International Law; and The Hebrew & Christian Traditions.
David resides in Greeneville, TN with his wife Natalie, his son Caleb, and his daughter Elliana. They are active members at First Christian Church in Greeneville. David is an avid runner and a huge fan of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team.
