Mock Trial Team Takes Home Awards
With its fall competition season complete, the University of Tennessee’s Mock Trial team had a lot to celebrate. The team traveled across the Eastern United States—from South Bend, Indiana, to Williamsburg, Virginia, to St. Louis—and hosted its own competition in Knoxville called “Mocky Top.”
In total, out of the nine competitions entered, the UT team earned a first-place finish, a third-place finish, and two honorable mentions.
The team also received three Spirit of American Mock Trial Association (SPAMTA) awards. This award is meant to recognize teams that best exemplify the ideals of the American Mock Trial Association—”civility, justice, and fair play.” It goes to only one team at each competition.
On top of these team awards, the student-centered organization won 12 individual awards. The Mock Trial team is one of three student clubs the department supports, and the department is proud of the hard work its student members put in this past fall. We are looking forward to the spring regionals, and hopefully more hardware for the team, on the horizon.
